Welcome to the RC Vlog. Come on in and enjoy!

Greetings everyone!

Welcome to the RC Vlog!

What is the blog about?  Well, that’s a good question.  One of the things I want to do is discuss things that I am into….mainly old school wet shaving.  I will include some YouTube videos that I will cover this subject as well so stay tuned!

I remember watching my dad shaving with the old butterfly single blade razors (also referred to as DE shaving) when I was little.  I never wanted to try it when I was old enough to shave because I was afraid that I would cut myself a;lot and to be honest, I probably would have.

I leaned to shave using the old Gillette Trac II razors with the disposable two blade cartridges.  Back then, two blades were the most advanced things you could buy.  These things did not have lubricating strips or pivoting heads.  It was a fixed blade and your shaving cream was the only thing that helped the blade rum smoothly on your face.

As new blades came around, I would upgrade to the triple blades, pivoting heads, four blades, and finally the newest five and six blade models.

I noticed that blades were costing me a small fortune to buy.  I would spend $40-$50 per package for blades at my local warehouse store.  I could imagine how much is cost to buy them in the grocery and drug stores.

I realized that there had to be a less expensive way to get a good close shave so I thought back to my dad;s old school razor.  I searched around the internet and found a lot of websites that catered the the wet shaving community and the community is pretty big.  I found many different toyes of razors, and accessories that I didn’t know existed.  I decided to give it a go and see if using the old single blade razors were good.

To my surprise, it was a different experience.  It did take longer, but it seemed more enjoyable. I know most people would not think of shaving as enjoyable.  It is more of a thing to do quickly and get going with the day. I think the extra time is worth it.

There is a lot to consider when deciding to DE shaving, but that is for another blog post.  I plan to go over everything you would need to get started and how to upgrade from there.

Peace
